Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is a style of massage that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue.
It can be beneficial for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders.
I use some of the same movements and strokes in other massages I offer, but the movements in deep tissue massage are often slower and the focus and sometimes the pressure are deeper.
Where there is chronic muscle tension or injury there are usually adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue) in muscles, tendons and ligaments. Adhesions can block circulation and cause pain, limit movement and cause inflammation. Deep tissue massage works by physically breaking down these adhesions to relieve pain and restore normal movement.
Indian Head Massage
Indian head massage focuses on the head neck shoulders face and scalp to increase joint mobility and flexibility, improve blood circulation and lymphatic flow, ease muscular tension and relax connective tissue.
It is possible to receive this treatment sitting up almost or totally fully dressed so it is a great therapy to offer at shows parties and offices.
The basic treatment takes half an hour. I also often combine it with further Massage or Reiki in an hour long session on a bodywork couch.
